Quick answers to the most common questions

Open the Cal AI app and tap the camera button at the bottom center of your screen. Point your camera at your meal and tap the shutter button. The AI will automatically identify the food items, estimate portion sizes, and show you the nutritional breakdown. You can adjust any item before saving the entry to your food log.

For the best results, make sure you have good, even lighting (natural light works best). Try to photograph the food from directly above. Avoid cluttered backgrounds and ensure the food fills most of the frame. If items overlap on a plate, try separating them slightly. You can always manually edit or search for the correct food after scanning.

Subscriptions are managed through your device's app store. On iOS, go to Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and find Cal AI. On Android, open the Google Play Store, tap your profile icon, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions, and find Cal AI. From there you can change your plan or cancel. You will retain access until the end of your current billing period.

Make sure you are signed into the same Apple ID or Google account that you used for the original purchase. Open Cal AI and go to Settings, then tap "Restore Purchases." Your Premium subscription should be restored automatically. If it does not work, try restarting the app or contact our support team for help.

Go to your Profile tab and tap "Nutrition Goals." From there, you can set custom targets for calories, protein, carbohydrates, and fat. You can choose from presets (such as high protein, low carb, or balanced) or enter your own specific gram amounts. Your daily dashboard will update to reflect your custom targets.

Yes. From your daily food log, tap on any food entry to open it. You can edit the food name, adjust the portion size, or modify the nutritional values. To delete an entry, swipe left on the item (iOS) or long-press and select Delete (Android). Changes are reflected immediately in your daily totals.

First, make sure you are running the latest version of Cal AI from the App Store or Google Play. Try closing the app completely and reopening it. If the issue persists, restart your device. You can also try clearing the app cache in your device settings. If nothing helps, contact our support team with your device model and OS version.

Your streak counts the number of consecutive days you have logged at least one meal in Cal AI. The streak resets if you miss a full day without logging any food. Maintaining your streak helps build consistent tracking habits. You will receive milestone notifications and achievements as your streak grows.

App Tips & Tricks

Get the most out of Cal AI with these expert tips

1

Use Natural Lighting for Scans

The AI scanner works best in natural, even lighting. Avoid harsh shadows or dim environments. If you are indoors, try positioning your plate near a window for the clearest scan results.

2

Log Before You Eat

Scan and log your food before you start eating. This helps build a consistent tracking habit and gives you a moment to review the nutritional content before your meal.

3

Adjust Portions After Scanning

The AI estimates portion sizes, but you know best how much you actually ate. After scanning, tap on any item to fine-tune the serving size for more accurate calorie counts.

4

Set Realistic Daily Goals

Use the onboarding questionnaire honestly to get accurate calorie recommendations. A moderate deficit of 300-500 calories per day is sustainable and effective for weight loss.

5

Track Consistently, Not Perfectly

You do not need to be 100% precise with every entry. Consistent daily logging, even if approximate, gives you valuable insights into your eating patterns over time.

6

Review Your Weekly Summary

Check your weekly analytics to spot trends. Looking at averages over seven days is more useful than focusing on a single day. Use these insights to make small, lasting adjustments.
